WASHINGTON, DC – Today the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA) announced that Michael Brown, General Partner at Battery Ventures, will serve as the 2021-2022 Chair of the NVCA Board of Directors.

Brown is leading the board at a critical time as the venture capital industry is heavily involved in infrastructure and economic revitalization conversations in Washington. As Chair, Brown will help guide NVCA in advocating for its members and their portfolio companies and showcase America as the premier destination to start and grow companies.

“I’m thrilled to continue my work with the NVCA and, as chairman, support policies that will leverage venture-capital investors and entrepreneurs to usher the U.S. into a robust post-pandemic recovery,” said Brown. “From immigration reform to efforts to harness technology to address our nation’s challenges, the NVCA is excited to partner with the Biden administration on initiatives that can move our country forward, expand access to economic opportunity and increase U.S. competitiveness around the world.”

“I am confident Michael will elevate the role of entrepreneurs across the country, inspire new business creation, and influence policymakers to embrace the startup ecosystem as an engine of progress in this great country,” said NVCA President and CEO Bobby Franklin.

Brown is preceded by Barry Eggers, founding partner at Lightspeed Venture Partners. Eggers successfully guided the NVCA and its members through the pandemic and set up the VC community to lead the recovery.
