WASHINGTON, DC – The National Venture Capital Association (NVCA) today presented Beth Seidenberg with the 2020 Excellence in Healthcare Innovation Award. The Excellence in Healthcare Innovation Award recognizes those who have demonstrated a clear commitment to the advancement of healthcare innovation through their investment in and support of groundbreaking medical companies that are working on treatments and cures for the most deadly and costly diseases.

“Dr. Beth Seidenberg has been an incredible healthcare investor for years, incubating and investing in more than 20 healthcare companies that are helping save lives, improve care, and push the biotech industry forward,” said Bobby Franklin, President and CEO of NVCA. “Dr. Seidenberg’s contributions to healthcare innovation are tremendous and inspiring, and we are honored to recognize her for her many achievements.”

As a founding managing director of Westlake Village BioPartners, Seidenberg believes this is the Golden Age of Biotech. “The pace and quality of innovation has hit an inflection point,” she explains. “With Westlake Village BioPartners we have the freedom and expertise to turn the next big technologies into products and companies that benefit human health.”

Since 2006, Seidenberg has incubated and invested in more than 20 healthcare companies, including but not limited to ARMO, Arresto, Atara Biotherapeutics, Cell Design Labs, Epizyme, Flexus, iPerian, TESARO, RAPT, True North, Livongo, and Progyny.

Seidenberg has a demonstrated ability to identify and accelerate meaningful molecules through development. Her expertise is grounded in her significant senior-level industry experience with leadership roles at Amgen, Bristol-Myers Squibb and Merck Research Laboratories. Most recently, at Amgen, Seidenberg was chief medical officer and head of global development.

Prior to life science investing, Seidenberg’s career focused on developing new treatments for AIDS, arthritis, asthma, cancer and psoriasis, cardiovascular, metabolic, neurological and renal disorders for over 20 years. During that time, she introduced 10 innovative products to market.
