Here at Rackhouse, we’re looking to expand our investing team of world-class talent working on identifying, investing in, and supporting the next generation of founders using data and AI/ML to build world-changing companies.

đź‘‹ Introducing Rackhouse

At Rackhouse, we’re investing in the “Data Sector” – everything from disruptive applications and middleware that utilize data and AI/ML as part of their core value proposition, to data-enabled marketplaces, to infrastructure and hardware that unlocks the next generation of data companies. Our long-term goal is to become the fund of choice for AI/ML founders through a combination of domain excellence, an operator ethos in everything we do, and a fund model that combines a collaborative spirit with enough capital to fund companies from inception to Series A when we’ve got conviction.

The fund is based in San Francisco and our team comes together in the office three days per week (we can consider remote work situationally). We care about getting shit done, camaraderie, and flexibility.

The Role

We are looking for an Associate to join as our first investment team hire. We are early, so we’re looking for ambitious builders who are motivated by getting in on the ground floor of something with huge potential and working as part of a team to get there. As an Associate, you’ll work under our investing partners to help us spot great opportunities early, meet and build relationships with founders, review diligence materials, and help support our existing founders. Beyond that, you’ll have a part in our strategic programs with Venture Partners, EIRs, and our annual event schedule.

What You’ll Do

– Meet with founders and operators building the future of AI
– Help drive investing decisions by assisting with diligence, building deal memos, and writing term sheets
– Advise Rackhouse partners on all stages of the investment decision-making process
– Make investing playbook, process, and tool decisions
– Drive thesis research projects and provide thought leadership in a fast-paced environment
– Represent Rackhouse in the field by attending industry events and data science conferences
– Help build our team and establish high investment standards
– Own projects from design through public implementation

What You Have

– 2+ years of experience in startups, ideally in data, machine learning, AI, or a related domain
– Natural knack for evaluating people, learning quickly, and iterating on the fly
– Passion for machine learning and the possibilities of data
– Experience with and pride in delivering exceptional work in fast-moving environments
– A desire to research new ideas, meet new people, and stay current on the latest AI/ML trends
– U.S. work authorization

What Captures Our Attention

– You’re a tinkerer, a hacker, an experimenter
– You have experience building/scaling a data startup
– You have prior experience in the VC industry and/or experience evaluating startups for investment
– You’re a nerd (in the best way) about using data and GenAI to improve business processes.

What We Offer

In addition to the opportunity to be a part of a collaborative, fun, curious group working to change the face of the machine learning industry, we offer some traditional things, too: competitive salaries, health benefits, paid vacations, team offsites, as well as the opportunity to share in the upside of our collective work.
