WASHINGTON, DC – The National Venture Capital Association (NVCA) today announced the appointment of Maryam Haque as Vice President of Research effective immediately.  Haque comes to NVCA from EMPEA, the global industry association for private capital in emerging markets, where she served most recently as Senior Director of Research.

“I’m extremely excited to have Maryam join the NVCA family.  Not only does she have a deep background in data and analytics, but a firm grasp of the venture capital industry and the issues that are important to our members and the entrepreneurs they support,” said Bobby Franklin, President and CEO of NVCA.  “A dynamic team player, she will play a critical role in expanding our advocacy capabilities through the use of data and research to better communicate the critical role venture capital plays in supporting the entrepreneurial ecosystem.”

At EMPEA, Haque oversaw and managed the organization’s full suite of research and data products and services, helping to elevate EMPEA’s visibility in the private capital industry both at home and abroad.  While at EMPEA, she founded the DC Women in Private Equity and Venture Capital Group, which serves as a professional networking group of 70+ women from the DC area that are active in the private equity and venture capital industries.  Prior to joining EMPEA, Haque spent more than five years in the Private Equity & Venture Capital division at Dow Jones & Company, first serving as a Research Assistant and then later promoted to Senior Research Analyst.  In these roles, she was involved in all aspects of the company’s collection, analysis and dissemination of data on global private equity and venture capital activity.

Haque graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Policy & Management.
