WASHINGTON, DC – The National Venture Capital Association (NVCA) today announced the appointment of Charlotte Savercool as Director of Government Affairs effective immediately.  Savercool comes to NVCA from the House Committee on Energy and Commerce where she served as a Professional Staff Member for the Subcommittee on Communications and Technology.

“We are so thrilled to have Charlotte join the NVCA team to assist in our important work to advocate for the venture capital industry and promote the critical role the entrepreneurial ecosystem plays in strengthening the U.S. economy,” said Bobby Franklin, President and CEO of NVCA.  “With six years of experience working in a variety of roles for the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Charlotte understands what it takes to push a policy initiative across the goal line and has developed a deep appreciation for the issues that matter to our members and their portfolio companies.  With her addition to the team, NVCA is now better positioned to drive value to our members and deliver on our policy priorities.”

Since joining the House Committee on Energy and Commerce under Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) in 2011, Charlotte has held a variety of roles and responsibilities.  Most recently as a Professional Staff Member for the Subcommittee on Communications and Technology under Chairman Greg Walden (R-OR), Charlotte was responsible for a broad array of policy issues, including Internet governance, wireless technology and media, and was responsible for the planning and execution of subcommittee hearings.  Prior to serving as a Professional Staff Member, Charlotte served as a Legislative Clerk to the Subcommittee on Communications and Technology, as well as a Legislative Coordinator to the full committee and Executive Assistant to the Staff Director.  Charlotte got her start on Capitol Hill as an intern for former Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA).  A native of Silver Spring, MD, Charlotte is a 2010 graduate of Virginia Tech University with a B.A. in Political Science.
