WASHINGTON, DC –The National Venture Capital Association (NVCA) today rolled out a new staff leadership structure to build on the 50-year foundation of success in support of the American entrepreneurial ecosystem.

As part of this effort, Justin Field has been promoted to Chief Strategy Officer. Field joined NVCA in 2014 and has led NVCA’s government affairs team with acumen. Under the leadership of Bobby Franklin, NVCA’s President and CEO, the new Leadership Team will consist of Christina Martin as Chief Operating Officer, Justin Field as Chief Strategy Officer, and Maryam Haque, Executive Director of NVCA’s supporting organization Venture Forward.

Commenting on Field’s new position, Franklin said, “Justin’s experience on the frontlines of advocacy and innate understanding of entrepreneurship makes him a natural to work on strategies related to identifying new directions of industry growth, managing challenges, and leveraging opportunities impacting the startup community, and enhancing member outreach and services. He will continue as an advocate for the industry before policymakers and regulators where he has proven himself over and over to be highly effective.”

During his nearly nine-year tenure, Field has participated in a range of critical policy debates including the 2020 CARES Act, the CHIPS and Science Act, the Inflation Reduction Act, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, regulatory changes to the Volcker Rule for VC funds, and JOBS Act 3.0.  His areas of expertise include tax policy, capital formation and regulation, climate and sustainability issues, technology commercialization, and national security innovation.

Prior to joining NVCA, Field spent twelve years on Capitol Hill as an aide to a House leadership office and then with the office of United States Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) where he was chiefly responsible for tax issues and the Senator’s work on the Senate Finance Committee.  In addition to managing Menendez’s tax portfolio, Field was also responsible for a number of other issues including telecommunications, technology, and federal science policy.

Field graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Business.
