OpenView is hiring a People Leader also be to be the true owner of our employee experience and development from hiring, to onboarding, to performance management, to ongoing personal and professional development custom to each team member’s role and ambitions.
We are looking for our People Leader to be strategic in shaping and sustaining the foundation of firm culture that withholds OpenView’s core values: continuous rapid improvement, objective decision making, impact through focus. It is the People Leader’s job to bring this culture to fruition through strategic “storytelling,” ensuring that the company values are reinforced with every initiative and communication.
OpenView’s People Leader will be in charge of managing the strategy and processes related to building and retaining an exceptional team of professionals. The People Leaders will act as an advisor and consultant—but must also be able to roll up his/her sleeves and execute new programs. This job is about optimizing people-centered activities such as hiring, training, professional development, and performance management to ensure these efforts support OpenView becoming the preeminent expansion stage venture capital firm.
While a stellar employee experience is top priority, providing a compelling, candidate-centric recruiting experience is vital as well. OpenView’s People Leader serves as a company’s culture advocate and brand builder to help attract the best and brightest talent to the firm. Effectively recruiting top industry talent and building a proactive bench of future hires is paramount.
-Own the the candidate recruiting/hiring experience for all OpenView hires
-Build a proactive bench of candidates for all of the most important roles for the firm, and nurture relationships over time
-Define and execute the candidate onboarding experience to make sure that all new employees have the greatest likelihood of success in their new role
-Establish ongoing learning and development programs for the firm, custom to roles and responsibilities to help people become more effective leaders
-Manage the firm’s performance management process, and help hiring managers become better at leading their teams and providing feedback to their team members
-Consult in-house and external legal resources to help deal with more challenging employee experiences, and provide guidance to managers as needed
-Help develop the strategy around culture and employee experiences for topics like internal events, gifts, benefits, etc.
-Establish a sense of community for People Leaders within the Portfolio to share best practices, network resources & tools
-7+ years experience leading an internal people function, or in an executive role where “people strategy” is paramount
-Experience leading executive searches and effectively making senior strategic hires
-Ability to create ongoing development programs by team/role and be a coach and sounding board for managers to empower them in becoming more effective in people management/leadership
-Exceptional communication and leadership skills
-Self starter that can be strategic but also is willing to roll up his/her sleeves to define/build the People Practice and establish new programs and shape the People Operations program
