The National Venture Capital Association (NVCA) is seeking a highly organized, detail-obsessed, and versatile Special Projects Manager to support the Chief Operating Officer, who leads strategy and manages the day-to-day operations of NVCA’s government relations, communications/marketing, research, and membership teams. This role is critical to ensuring efficiency, timely execution, clear communication, and follow-through across a wide range of cross-functional projects that support the U.S. venture capital ecosystem.
The ideal candidate is a creative problem solver, excellent writer, meticulous proofreader, and an agile, jack-of-all-trades who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. This position offers exposure to high-impact work at the intersection of policy, data, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Executive Support
- Support the COO with daily activities, including meeting preparation, agendas, project tracking, and follow-up.
- Manage complex calendars and meeting logistics; coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Handle confidential materials with discretion and professionalism.
Project Management
- Track the progress of ongoing projects across departments.
- Maintain and organize shared files and digital systems to ensure easy access and version control.
- Support the planning and execution of cross-functional assignments, meetings, and campaigns.
Communications & Content
- Draft, proofread, and edit a wide range of communications, including official letters and comments, memos, newsletters, marketing emails, research reports, press releases, and digital content.
- Assist with content creation using tools like Canva and Adobe Creative Suite to enhance materials across departments.
Research & Analysis
- Identify and showcase venture capital firms and portfolio company stories.
- Conduct research using platforms such as Salesforce, PitchBook, and internal data sources.
- Assist with legislative tracking, stakeholder engagement, and PAC-related campaigns.
Qualifications
- 0–2 years of relevant experience in government affairs, communications, policy, or administrative support preferred.
- Exceptional attention to detail – especially in writing, editing, and proofing.
- Strong organizational and time management skills; able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proactive and resourceful self-starter; comfortable working independently and collaboratively.
- Positive, can-do attitude with a “no task too small or too big” mentality.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s Degree or higher.
Salary & Benefits: $45,000 – $55,000. Competitive salary is commensurate with experience and includes health benefits package, generous paid vacation, annual performance-based bonus, public transportation reimbursement, and use of wireless equipment & service.
